Medical/Administrative Assist - Scott & White Memorial Hospital (Temple, TX)

PREPARES DOCUMENTS AND REPORTS TO SUPPORT ASSIGNED DEPARTMENT OR DIVISION OBJECTIVES.
Creates, maintains and utilizes appropriate databases effectively and prepares accurate reports.
Accurately maintains the physicians schedules, utilizing SMS systems as necessary; maintains accurate calendar of events for department or division; routinely schedules appointments, notifying all participants in a timely manner.
In the absence of management, exercises initiative and judgment in responding to customer problems or complaints (both internal and external) promptly, courteously and in accordance with established policies and procedures or, if unable or unqualified to assist, promptly refers to the appropriate party or department and follows-up to ensure problem resolution.
COORDINATES PATIENT NEEDS TO FACILITATE PATIENT CARE.
Functions as liaison between physician and patient, processing medical records and paperwork in accordance with established policies and procedures and in a timely manner; accurately completes patient admission (HAR) as necessary.
Forwards reports to labs in a timely manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Monitors supply levels and orders accordingly.
Maintains office equipment in good working order and notifies the appropriate parties promptly when equipment requires service or repairs.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC:
CLINICAL PATHOLOGY PREPARES DOCUMENTS AND REPORTS TO SUPPORT ASSIGNED DEPARTMENT AND/OR DIVISION OBJECTIVES.
Transcribes medical dictation as needed for bone marrow, flow cytometry and transfusion reports.
Coordinates and oversees the receipt, distribution and filing of all items related to Proficiency Testing.
Coordinates and support office communication functions and effectively communicates using proper telephone etiquette and written skills.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC:
ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY PREPARES DOCUMENTS AND REPORTS TO SUPPORT ASSIGNED DEPARTMENT OR DIVISION OBJECTIVES.
Transcribes medical dictation as needed.
Verifies accurate coding/billing for Surgical Pathology Services Distributes communication with physicians regarding abnormal PAP smears as required by regulatory agencies.
Coordinates and support office communication functions and effectively communicates using proper telephone etiquette and written skills.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC:
TRANSFUSION Compiles and communicates daily blood inventory levels in coordination with the Donor Center Production Laboratory.
Functions as a liaison between the laboratory and internal purchasing department and external reagent and equipment vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of laboratory equipment, services and supplies.
Functions as a liaison between Transfusion Services and Medical Records department to collect necessary information for accurate transfusion-related documentation.
Utilizes Passport (SMS) and SafeTrace TX to accurately enter and verify appropriate patient charges for laboratory testing and blood component usage on a daily basis.
Negotiates blood inventory acquisition and sales with external blood centers.
Effectively manages transfusion-related documentation and coordination of storage.
PERFORMS OTHER POSITION APPROPRIATE DUTIES AS REQUIRED IN A COMPETENT, PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS MANNER.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES 3-5 years experience required in a medical setting Microsoft Office Suite; Good organization, time management and communications skills required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
