The role you'll contribute:
Under the general direction of the Consumer Access Manager and/or Consumer Access Supervisor performs registration, insurance verification, authorization, and inpatient follow-up in a pleasant and accurate manner.
Performs financial counseling by assisting and screening patients for our Financial Assistance Programs as outlined by Corporate policy.
Performs follow-up on self- pay accounts.
Initiates collection attempts from patients who have a financial liability, and other duties as required.
Actively participates in extending exemplary service to both internal and external customer and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Proactively seeks assistance to improve any responsibilities assigned to their role.
Accountable for maintaining a working relationship with partners to ensure open communications between clinical, ancillary, vendor's, and consumer access departments, which enhances the patient experience.
Provides timely and continual coverage of assigned work to offer prompt treatment, services, and availability for all partner needs.
Meets and exceeds productivity standards determined by department standards.
Contacts insurance companies by phone, fax, online portal, and other resources to obtain and verify insurance eligibility, benefits and determine extent of coverage within established timeframe.
Ensures patient demographic information is updated (e.
g.
patient not able to provide in the Emergency Room).
Ensures patient accounts are assigned the appropriate health plan.
Creates accurate estimates to maximize up-front cash collections and adds collections documentation when applicable.
Calculates patient financial responsibilities in accordance with their insurance co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
Provides patients with personalized estimates of their financial obligations based on their insurance coverage or eligibility for funding programs.
Qualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One year of customer service experience High School diploma or GED Mature judgement in dealing with patients, physicians, and customers.
Working knowledge of Microsoft programs and familiarity with database programs.
Ability to operate general office machines such as computer, fax machine, printer, and scanner Adheres to government guidelines such as CMS, EMTALA, and HIPAA and AdventHealth corporate policies.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
